Twilight in Tiznit Morocco

Two members of the Twilight Groups Board visited Tiznit Morocco on the 18th of July to discuss the Sectors of interests they wish to develop in their up coming agreement. Murty Brennan , General Manager & chairperson, and the Groups Overseas Executive & vice chairperson, Mr Philip Brennan on this week long visit.

Festival Tiznit silver language

Tiznit is wonderful city with many great and long term plans for their citizens underway and in the pipeline. The visit coincided with the silver craft fair  9th session of silver festival in city
Under the slogan :” silver language: ” Identity, creativity and development. Through this festival, the assembly seeks to highlight aspects of the cultural and heritage identity of the city  of silver language, and to value this movable physical heritage, which has become a symbol, cultural heritage, contributing to the economic development of the city, It affirms its position at the national and international levels as a incubator for this heritage.

The duo were treated to a to the governor of Tiznit the Kings representative to the region, and working directly with the members of the municipal district’s elected and employees discussing areas of interest that both parties have identified for exploration. The connection between the arts crafts and culture were discussed as Philip and the Mayor of Tiznit had a meeting with other members as the possibility of student exchange programmes was one of  the topic.

During the visit the host showed The Twilight Group the New Bus terminal which is nearly completed and is an example of the forward thinking local government as this new terminal an shopping centre is targeting the increase that is expected from the ever expanding tourism trade. Air Arabia now fly direct from Dublin to Agdair which now makes Morocco as attractive as any of the sun spots of Spain and Portugal and the Cannery Islands which are just to west of the Moroccan Atlantic  Coast line.  Wonderful vast developments are underway on the same coast line and new motorways are planned to open up the Moroccan countryside 

The opening of the festival was attended by the Minister of the interior and the craftsmanship and products on the display were of the highest quality of Silversmith workmanship.

Music was also the call of the festival with the top acts performing to up to 10’000 men women and children in a great show of Community Spirit.

In October 2018 a four person delegation will be in Kilkenny to attend the Twilight Groups International Conference on the ” Stigmatisation of Migrants” as will their partners from Margny Les Compiegne , France and Malbork , Poland. During the visit the partners will also take part and display the cuisine and preserves to the Irish Communities during the Savour Food Kilkenny Festival from October 23rd to 29th

We are looking forward to developing long and fruitful partnerships to benefit the Communities of both cities and regions.
